<image:title>Earth, Plants & Farming - Akwaaba (Welcome)</image:title>
<image:caption>Days 1-2 (Accra) We will begin our journey in Accra picking each participant from the airport as you arrive. Making sure you acclimatize, you will be introduced to the sights, tastes and the fast paced rhythmic pulse of Ghana’s capital city, Accra. We will be visiting the Centre for Scientific Research into Plant Medicine to learn about the preparation of herbal remedies and also hit the rope climbing course in the lush green botanical gardens of the University of Ghana which will facilitate a team bonding as we orient you and allow you to be present in your new surroundings.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Day 2- 5 (Liate Wote | Volta Region) As the sun rises upon the horizon signaling the start of the third day, so would we journey about an hour east from the busy capital, Accra to a more laid back zone, Prampram. Here we are nestled on a hill by the ocean in a lodge which features an Ancestral Wall; the longest wall dedicated to the revitalization of the memories our ancestors throughout time and space. We will pay homage while spending time by the ocean contemplating the motions of the waves and allowing personal time to bring forth our creative energies or simply reflect and introspect. We will also engage the community and its peoples in which we find ourselves.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Days 11-14 (Axim) Leaving Cape Coast, our journey on this meditative program will take us to the less visited and serene blue waters of Western Ghana replete with a rainforest. Here at Butre, lodging in one of the oldest towns in Ghana we will take time to reflect and also enjoy a swim in the beautiful ocean waters as the sun sets on our program. We will also treat our selves to a sunrise canoe ride bestowing upon us the sounds and joys of tropical animals in the mangrooves of the nearby river. We will also take time to contemplate on our journeys ahead before we head back to the capital, Accra for our final yɛbɛhyia (we shall meet again) before departures. Camagu!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Days 1 - 2 (Cape Coast) Arriving in Ghana on the first day at the Kotoka International Airport, we would continue our journey by bus 3hrs west of the capital to Cape Coast where we will be lodging for the next few days. We would allow for rest after dinner. Rising to the morning sun on the second day, we would spend time introducing ourselves properly to each other and preparing ourselves for the group trip by way of orientations. On this day, we would also visit the dungeons in acknowledgement of Afrikan lives taken through its this dark monument. Time would also be spent by the ocean later in the evening after dinner participating in a drumming and dancing session done by a local dance group. On the morning of the third day, having had breakfast we would begin our journey back to the capital, Accra to partake in the Ancestral Wall celebration. On the way, we would make a stop at the Kakum National Park taking a walk on planks amongst the trees and learning about the medicinal plants in this conserved forest.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Days 10 - 13 (Kazigu, Upper East Region) On the morning of the 10th day, we would hop on a domestic flight an hour away to the northern part of Ghana. The northern part of Ghana is going to feel radically different from the southern part of the country characterized by dry heat, savannah landscape, more rural and slow paced living, motorbikes and tricycles as main transport etc. During our time here, we would be immersing ourselves culturally through homestays by living with families in earth houses. But prior to settling into our accommodations, we would do a visit to the Paga Crocodile pond to engage the interrelationship between the people living in the area and crocodiles. The morning of the 11th day, after breakfast with our families. Here, we would meet with the Chief and introduce ourselves to the community. We will visit the AK hub worksite to learn about how to build indigenous earth buildings without any need for cement or modern building materials. This would also be our engagement on the 12th day but we would also include engagements with women producing shea butter and farmers in cooperatives.</image:caption>
